• Hauliers in Staffordshire are set to benefit from the fuel price war after an independent local garage owner pledged to offer weekly promotions that could cut diesel prices by half.
Richardson, who runs two fuel stations in Rugeley, says he is selling at a loss but wants to make a point for the small station owners who will be most affected by the war.
There will be different promotions every week, some even offering free fuel, and Richardson says: The first one was aimed at car users but we are designing one at the moment to apply to commercial vehicles."
