will come under scrutiny next month with the London trial of a group of men charged with importing drugs.
Roy Clarke, the Surreybased owner-driver who was acquitted by the Spanish authorities of drugs smuggling last year, could testify against the gang.
The six are jointly charged with being knowingly concerned with the importation of prohibited substances. They are scheduied to appear on 20 February at Harrow Crown Court. Although they have no direct connection with the haulage industry, the prosecution will allege that they tricked unwitting hauliers into importing drugs for them.
