* Renault UK has launched a range of high-safety minibuses and welfare/mobility vehicles that meet the yet-to-beimplemented ECE 1 4/ 1 7 regulations on seat-belts and seat anchorages. See Vehicle News Extra, pages 12-13.
• The managing director of failed Skipton-based haulage firm Fewston Transport has been arrested on suspicion of rape. Tony Eyers has been remanded on bail pending further enquiries into the alleged attack; no charges have yet been brought.
• In May the Driving Standards Agency is to publish a list of the theory questions for learner drivers that will be included in the new written tests due to come into effect on 1 July.
• Road Transport Minister Steven Norris has confirmed in Parliament that new powers to wheel clamp and impound untaxed trucks parked on public roads will be introduced shortly. A pilot scheme in London will begin in February.
• Former Formula One motor racing champion, Jackie Stewart will give the keynote address at the Freight Transport Association's conference at the Belfry, Wishaw, North Warwickshire on 28-29 February.
• CV production rose by nearly 2.5% to more than 233,000 last year, according to the latest SMMT figures.
