How right Roger Walker is in Sound Off (CM 11-17 Jan). The decision to abolish grandfather rights for eye sight standards is an utter

disgrace. Who is going to speak up for these drivers? Surely the industry must make serious representations to the Transport Minister to reverse this decision and campaign for financial compensation to ease their plight, as many firms will refuse to pay redundancy

The National Owner Drivers Association has already started lobbying on behalf of its self-employed members, some of whom will face financial ruin . Come on the TGWU, URTU, RHA and FTA—what are you doing to save these 3,000 drivers? R D O'Boy,
