• Production of the Ford Transit at Southampton has been halted by industrial action in support of a wage claim.
Ford says it halted production at the plant and laid off 2,000 production staff because of disruption in the supply of transmissions and body pressings from the company's Halewood plant, where 650 staff are out on unofficial strike.
The closure is costing Ford production of around 350 vans a day, worth 24.4 million.
Transit production at Ghenk, in Belgium is also likely to be hit by the action.
