• Redundancies among British livestock hauliers are feared following an EC ban on the export to the Continent of live cattle over six months old.
The regulations, due to be introduced in March, will halt exports worth nearly 26 million a year in a bid to stop the spread of 'mad cow' disease.
Cheltenham-based Graham Gilder Livestock is preparing to lose up to half of its business.
The 20-year-old company, which exports cattle to Spain, Portugal and Denmark, says that it will be forced to make half of its drivers redundant.
