Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

(CM 4-10 January) was in my view, undisputed, clear cut evidence that the Eagle 325TX is the best engine available today for 38-tonne tractive units.

Why fit 261kW-283kW (350380hp) engines when the TX will do the same running times and offer excellent fuel economy at the same time. We have not got the long distance runs to justify big 350 or 400 engines like they do in America or Australia, where a 6,400km trip is a normal weekly run.

T Montgomery, Westoughton, Lancs.
