• Public transport in Dortmund, West Germany has been made more efficient by automatic traffic lights at interchange points between buses and underground trains.
The lights tell bus drivers how many minutes away the next underground train is. When a train is imminent, the drivers are required to wait for passengers who wish to transfer to the bus network.
