• A Welsh bus operator is running non-emergency ambulance services for West Glamorgan Health Authority as the ambulance pay dispute goes into its 19th week.
United Welsh Services is operating about five minibusesa-day to outpatient departments of local hospitals.
"We are running the service on an agreed basis with the health authority and the ambulance unions," stresses United Welsh Service director Alan Kreppel.
He says the company has agreed not to put more than a certain number of vehicles on the road without re-negotiating with the unions. The length of the contract is open-ended.
United Welsh is using 16seat Transits and 19 and 25seat Mercedes minibuses for the service.
