• Continental breakdown and recovery help is now being offered to international truck operators by AA-BRS Fleet Rescue.
The breakdown firm has joined forces with other companies throughout Europe. So far, 10 countries run the recovery scheme for UK operators, and managing director Ray Combs is confident more will follow soon.
"We have also identifed markets in East Germany, Czechoslovakia and Hungary," he says.
The new European service has already been piloted by several prominent UK haulage and coach operators such as Pickfords International Removals, Harwich Transport and Wallis Arnold. It is free to all existing AA-BRS Fleet Rescue members; other operators who want to use the new service Pickfords: one of the first operators to join AA-BRS Fleet Rescue European service.

Under the new scheme, truck operators in Europe can contact the AA-BRS Birmingham communications centre using an emergency phone number. All repair work will be invoiced in sterling to help operators avoid European VAT claims.
