• The first two Multidrive Seddon Atkinson Stratos proved their versatility this week when they were the only vehicles capable of getting into a quarry.
The two-week old Stratos, owned by Egerton Transport, are powered by the 242kW (325hp) Cummins L10 engine, with Eaton gearboxes and Rockwell axles.
Egerton chose the Stratos after a month's trial with the original Leyland Roadtrainbased Multidrive vehicle three years ago. "We preferred the Strata because it is a lighter, modern vehicle with a proven engine," says David Hodges.
