INITIAL discussions abou the possible legalisation of co botage within the EEC wet being held in Brussels o Tuesday this week.
The original proposal t allow cabotage was made the EEC Commission la! November.
Now, a working party i Brussels is to examine th! proposal, which would allol a Continental haulier i Britain to pick and deliver u to two separate loads :withi this country while on th empty return journey.
Likewise, British haulic could do the same.
It is expected that the U Government would not obje to the principle of cabota; because of its belief in fr competition.
But the UK will ;i1mc certainly be looking ft greater harmonisation of ro taxes and tariffs on roo freight transport through° the EEC before agreeir whole-heartedly to cabotage,
