THE GOVERNMENT has designated 1986 as Energy Efficiency Year. It believes that £2.8 million can be saved on the nation's transport bill this year, as well as 0.9 million from industry and commerce.

The "Get more for your Monergy" campaign is aimed at stopping the "scandalous waste of money and energy in which Britain indulges at the moment," says Energy Secretary Peter Walker.

The Government is prepared to help if industry, including small firms and

operators. is prepared to help itself. There are grants available in certain cases, and a whole range of books :xplaining what firms can do to Save energy.

There are also all-year round seminars planned throughout the country, and colourful free posters urging employees to conserve energy are available.
