Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

The watch committee of the Leeds Corporation has intimated to the Yeadon 'Transport Co., Ltd., of Yeadon, that it is considered that the issue of 3s passes affording an unlimited number of journeys on the Yeadon to Leeds route run by the company is an infringement of the licensing regulations. The regulations are framed to protect the trams by fixing the bus fares at 2d. more than those an the trams.

In consequence of the announcement of the watch committee the Yeadon Transport Co., Ltd„ has been compelled pe intimate that the ordinary fare from Yeadou to Leeds will be 5d. and that passes for two journeys per day only will be issued at 5s. each. The action of the committee has aroused much indignation amongst those people who use the buses, who appointed a committee , to interview the directors of the company.

The suggestion was made that the passengers should charter two motors to convey them privately to Leeds, about

60 passengers combining to carry out this arrangement. This plan was brought to the notice of the company, but it was considered that this arrangement would also infringe the regulations.

It is interesting to note that when the state of affairs became public the London, Midland and Scottish Railway Co. sent a representative to meet the members of the committee of passengers to point out the advantage of the cheap travelling facilities on the trains running from Horsforth to Leeds.
