Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

police checks in Cornwall in the past year are likely to be prosecuted, Figures released this week reveal that out of 607 trucks stopped, 180 drivers have been reported for prosecution and 289 drivers have been given formal warnings.

Just over 80 vehicles received immediate prohibitions.

Of immediate bans, 80% to 85% were for defective brakes. Most were found on artics where trailer brakes were well below the required standard, say police.

In conjunction with officers from Waste Enforcement, Cornwall County Council, the constabulary also carried out checks on waste trucks in the past year. This resulted in 39 drivers being cautioned and nine drivers being reported for prosecution.
