• Roads and Traffic Minister Peter Bottomley has come under attack in the Commons for not doing enough to reliev road congestion, but he told MPs: "Over the past 10 year; many journeys in many parts ( the country have become faster, more reliable and less congested," and denied any plans to introduce road tolls.
Harry Greenway MP warne that if traffic flow in London does not improve "industry wi come to a stop, jobs will be lost and the entire metropolis will grind to a halt" — and Terence Higgins MP called on the Government to take direcl control of London's transport.
