NOTICE OF ABNORMAL LOADS IN LONDON • From 1 January 1989 the Police will require separate notification of all proposed abnormal load movements within the City of London prior to the issue of a police permit. The driver of the vehicle must be in possession of the permit at all times. A police escort will be provided for loads more than 18.3m long without rear wheel steering (or 24.4m with rear wheel steering), more than 4.1m wide, or weighing over 101,605kg.
