AGENCY and voluntary transport resources in the Penwith District Council area of Cornwall are to be the subject of an action and research project by the Dartington Institute resulting from a contract awarded by the Transport and Road Research Laboratory.
The project aims to see if coordination can produce a more cost efficient transport service and make better use of existing transport resources and to examine whether the transport services in rural areas might be improved for passengers.
The education, social services and transport departments of Cornwall County Council, the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Health Authority and Age Concern (Cornwall) and to be involved in the project.
Advice is expected from the County planning and surveyor departments and the Penwith District Council. Further organisations may be involved as the project progresses.
