Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

We were pleased to note that you are publishing the excellent series of articles entitled "Know the Law" and were particularly interested by No 3 in the series of broken-down vehicles, which refers particularly to towing implements (see CM, October 26).

We do of course agree that towing implements are exempted from those regulations which require the fitting of springs, brakes, wings, etc: provided that certain conditions are complied with, in particular that the implement is not being drawn during the hours of darkness and the speed does not exceed 20mph.

Since the tow boy is specifically referred to in this article, we would like to point out that most of the tow boys used in the UK are our MK 2 models which are fitted with springs, brakes, wings, etc and therefore the restrictions mentioned aobve do not apply.

We feel that it would be a service to the users of tow boys to make this point clear, particularly as we are frequently advised that some users have heard that the tow boy is illegal. A. F. DEAKIN, Sales Manager, Harvey Frost & Co Ltd, Bishop's Stortford, Herts.
