THE COST of carrying out heavy goods vehicle driving tests in Northern Ireland has risen by about a third in the past three years.
Philip Goodhart, Under Secretary for Northern Ireland, said in the Commons that it was not possible to give precise information on the cost of this service, but estimates were: 1976-7, £49,000; 1977-8, £56,500; and 1978-9, £62,000.
The income from fees over the same period had been £18,472, £19,920 and £21,480 respectively.
