SOUTHERN BRS has begun its first regular internationa road-rail service between France and Britain.
It is handling 52-ton consignments of mineral water which ari brought from the French side of Lake Geneva, through Dover, ti SBRS's Welwyn Garden City depot.
The rail journey takes 10 days, and the 1.5 litre mineral-wate bottles are distributed by pallet and lorry under the company' Clearfreight service.
SBRS plans to expand its rail-linked services, and will be abl to develop its North London Freight Centre at Kentish Tow when the Midland main-line electrification scheme is complete
