OUR of Tayside's troubled Daimler Fleetline single-deckers are eing rebodied at a cost of some £60,000.
The eight-year old vehicles, which have been beset with tructural problems in their Alexander bodies, are to receive new i1arshall Camair 80 bodies in an effort to provide better working :onditions for the undertaking's single-deck bus drivers.
Tayside director of public transport Alan Westwell told CM hat there was an urgent requirement for more modern singleleckers in the fleet and that Marshall could supply bodies very luickly.
He added that the Camair's strength had been proved in iervice with Northern General and other fleets, but said he would have preferred new chassis as well. One possibility considered was a single-deck version of the Volvo Ailsa which is giving excellent service on Tayside's louble-deck routes.
