• During the four weeks of October, says the DoE, the average weekly recorded rate of production of commercial vehicles was 9300, the second-highest rate of the year to date, but 2 per cent below that for October 1971. Production for the home market was 10 per cent higher than a year ago, but output for export was 21 per cent lower, "reflecting the lack of demand associated with restraint levels of investment in many of our overseas markets".
