AS FORECAST in COMMERCIAL MOTOR last week, freight rates have already been affected by devaluation.

Mann and Son (London) Ltd. announces that Wallenius Lines and Lion Ferry Services have both increased their rates as follows: Harwich to Bremerhaven, 54s per linear foot loaded and 36s empty (previously 6s and 4s per sq. ft. respectively). Services out of Harwich to Copenhagen, Drammen, Malmo and Wallhanm, have been increased by 9d per sq.ft. loaded and 6d per sq.ft. empty.

P. H. Matthiessen and Co. Ltd. announces increases of about 15 per cent on all freight rates between UK and Norway and points out that a previously intimated increase in rates will become effective on January 1.
