AT a Western Maintenance Advisory Committee open meeting attended by over 700 operators on Monday, Mr. R. Denny of the Ministry of Transport said the heavy-vehicle test fee was still being costed but it would not run into two figures.
Mr. G. H. Mitchell, RHA, said the new Tester's Manual would be obtainable from RHA and TRTA area offices as well as from HMSO— as indeed would the Standard Lists (for Ministry plating) shortly.
Speakers from SMMT and the Ministry answered many questions from operators, particularly on axle-weight tolerances.
