HEAVY-DUTY six-wheeled tractive units are to be used by Air Products Ltd. to haul seven big new liquid gas tanks on regular long-distance supply services to the Continent. Built at Air Products' works in North Wales, the tanks have a capacity of 7,250gal, and are chassisless units built onto tandem-axle bogies and insulated by a Perlite-filled vacuum jacket.
The tractive units will be AEC Mammoth Major or Mammoth Minor types, operating at up to 32 tons gross train weight.
