Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

CHANGES 'have been made in the ...specification of the Bedford Ps-ton to 5-ton range, which is powered by the "long-life" engine, and alterations have been made in the nominal and gross weights of certain models. The gearbox now employed is of a similar type to that used in the 7-tonner and provides synchromesh on top, third and second gears, the third and second ratios being of constant-mesh single helical form. A power-take-off facing, is provided and this is on the left-hand side of the gearbox casing.

The electrical system now includes 12-volt compensated voltage -.control equipment and an Exide battery of 53 iiinp.-hr. capacity. Improvements have been -made in the. cab to exclude draughts and dust. by fitting a felt underlay to the floor mats, as well as draught excluders, weather strips and rubber door seals.

A thermometer is provided among the instruments and the ammeter is replaced by an ignition warning light. There has also been a revision to the wiring layout of the lamps, and a headlamp main-beam warning light is included. Other improvements incorporated in the cab are Vynide upholstery and insulation betwen the instrument panel and steering column.

The second leaf of the front springs is extended and turned round the spring eye to prevent excessive movement of the axle in the case of top-leaf failure.

The 4-ton and 5-ton models, including the Bedford-Seammell articulated unit, are now. equipped with hypoid-drive rear axles and" the rear track has been increased by 31 ins. The Wider traek

provides clearance tor snow chains when tyres up to 8.25-20 in. are fitted. It has also enabled the width of the bodies of the tipper and drop-sided models to be increased to 7 ft.

Rear wings of the same pattern as those on the 7-ton model are provided on the 4-tonners and 5-tonners. An alteration has been made in the steeringbox design and the ratio has been lowered to 21 to 1.
