STRIKE action as a protest .againsi the Road Haulage Executive's pal1cy on permits is to be considered at a forthcoming meeting of ihe West Midland Afea • of the Road Haulage Association. Mr. W; Fisher, Small Heath, Birmingham, has sent .notice of a motion in favour of such a move as an alternative to defying the revoca•ion of permits.
If hauliers ran yiithout permits, he considers, they would be " picked off " a few at a time when the Esecutive was able to handle their traffic. "It wooki put the road haulier on the wrong side of the law andlose him the right to compensation," he . stated ,our cor respondent.

60 MILES OUT: 12 FINE
ABRADFORD haulier, Mr. 1. Smith. Heaton, was fined £2 and 5s. costs at Bradford City Court, last week, for running 60 miles from his operatine centre without a permit.
His lorry was stopped in Knutsfortl, Cheshire. Mr. Smith was the holder of a contract-A licence.
In a case beforethe Nottingham magistrates, Mrs. Rosamund G. Rinerose, 24, Bridgegate, Howden, was fined £5, with £3 3s. 7d. costs, for exceeding the 25-mile radius. key Transports, Ltd., 28, Market Place. Hull, was fined for aiding and abetting.
APPEAL TO TRADERS rONDEMNATION of the Road "-.Haulage Executive's action with regard to permits was expressed list week at a meeting of Bristol and district members of the Road Haulage Association. An appeal to traders was made to support the Transport (Amendment) Bill.
