. Regular contributors and callers to Commercial Motor will be sad to learn of the death of CMs longserving Editor's Secretary Pauline Stopher, who died suddenly on 10 July following a severe asthma attack.

Pauline was extremely well-known among the road transport industry, being the public "face" of CMand handling dozens of readers' calls every week. Armed with only the vaguest hint as to the likely publication date of an article (often no more than "some time ago") Pauline was capable of answering even the most obscure of reader enquiries with great humour and no little patience. Peer of the realm, industry leader, or owner-driver, Pauline treated every caller with the same courtesy and interest.

A superb organiser, outstanding administrator and staunch defender of the magazine and its editorial team, Pauline joined Orin 1987 working for the then-Editor Allan Winn before commencing a 13year partnership with CM Editor-in-Chief Brian Weatherley. During that time Pauline tackled an amazing array of administrative tasks including the single-handed organisation of CMs Newstrade Ride & Drive Days and our regular livery competitions.

Completely unflappable and totally professional, Pauline was highly respected both within Reed Business Information and the road transport industry, as well as among our freelance contributors on whose behalf Pauline battled tirelessly to ensure prompt payment. She will be greatly missed by all of the Commercial Motorteam as well as her many friends within the Reed Road Transport Croup, RBI and the manufacturing sector. Our condolences go to her husband Barry.
