• Truck drivers are among the safest drivers in the UK, behind women and the police, according to a survey of 500 road users by motor accessories retailers Halfords. Taxi drivers were voted the worst.
Half of those questioned said that the experimental London Red Routes disrupt communities and lead to speeding in built-up areas. Only 14% favoured toll roads and 50% supported a freeze on road building in favour of improved public transport.
