• Worcestershire operator Ronald Calder has had his 0-licence revoked, for disregarding requests for information and using his home as an operating centre without authority.

Calder, who was licensed for one vehicle based at Sandy Lane, Stourport-on-Severn, failed to attend a Birmingham disciplinary inquiry before West Midland Licensing Authority John Mervyn Pugh.

Mervyn Pugh said a vehicle examiner had reported that Calder's vehicle had been stolen and not recovered. Calder was using a replacement vehicle and he was advised to notify the Traffic Area. He was sent a form for a change of vehicle but it was never returned. It was also stated that vehicles not specified on Calder's 0-licence were being parked at an unauthorised operation centre, namely Calder's home. The LA indicated that he had information concerning convictions for vehicle excise duty offices.

Clive Jefferson, a planning officer of Wye Forest District Council, gave evidence that Calder's vehicle had mostly been kept at his home at Hurcott Road, Kidderminster. However, he said it had not been kept there in the past two weeks and he had been told that another local firm had bought Calder's skip hire operation. Consequently, it appeared that he had sold at least part of the business.

Mervyn Pugh revoked the licence and said there had been a constant lack of information which had put a large burden on the enforcement section wanting to check vehicles. He had to be satisfied that Calder's vehicle was being kept in a safe condition, but Calder had failed to keep an appointment with a vehicle examiner to produce his vehicle and records.
