THE FIRST hybrid electric vehicles with a claimed performance equal to their internal combustion-engined counterparts will be exhibited at the fourth international conference of the Electric Vehicle Development Group.
The meeting is entitled Hybrid, Duel Mode and Tracked Systems and will be held in London between September 15/16.
Vehicle demonstrations will take place at the London Transport grounds and will include a prototype vehicle developed by Gerleral Electric Company (USA) in conjunction with Volkswagen.
This has a top speed of 160km/h (100mph) and an acceleration time of 4,8 seconds from 0 to 48km/h (30mph).
At the conference, the Freight Transport Association and the Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive will give an initial appraisal of the operation of-vans and a bus.
