Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

IPSWICH Borough Transport has ordered six Dennis Falcon H singledeck buses for one of its busiest stage-carriage routes. The buses, which are to be fitted with East Lancs two-door bodywork, will replace earlier AEC Swift single-deckers which are not proving reliable enough for the service.

Ipswich's 12/13 routes operate under a 12ft 3in bridge which restricts them to single-deck. operation. Recently, the Swifts were backed up by a fleet of exLeicester Bristol RE single-deck

ers which have proved reliable. The reliability of the REs encouraged Ipswich to look for a rugged bus with a similar type specification, and the Falcon met these requirements.

Ipswich hopes to evaluate the Maxwell gearbox in these buses and one vehicle is expected to be fitted with a Luminator Electronic destination display.

The first Dennis Falcon V double-deck chassis is currently being bodied at East Lancs for Nottingham City Transport, and five Mercedes-Benz-engined vehicles have been ordered by Greater Manchester Transport.
