• Protection of workers' eyes is the subject of new Regulations under the Factories Act 1961, which Mrs. Barbara Castle, Secretary for Employment and Productivity, proposes to make. "The Protection of Eyes Regulations", require employers to provide protection for the eyes of workers in places to which the Factories Act applies, while they are carrying out work on certain processes in which there is considered to be potential danger to the eyes.
Individual eye protectors, which may be goggles, visors, spectacles or face screens must be provided in all cases where a general screen affording similar protection is not in position.
