Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• The application by Wallace Arnold Tours Ltd. of Leeds, for three tour licences to the Isle of Wight, Falmouth and St. Ives, starting from Dundee, Glasgow and Edinburgh, and the addition of Edinburgh to its extended tour licence from Dundee and Glasgow to Bournemouth, was adjourned by the Scottish Traffic Commissioners sitting in Edinburgh last week.

It was said on Wallace Arnold's behalf that the duration of the tours would be for 9/10 days and operating in June, July and August, aiming at high season traffic. Selection of the proposed new destinations was based on need to offer new holiday centres to regular customers, and that neither Falmouth nor St. Ives was covered by Scottish operators.

Scottish Omnibuses anc&W. Alexander and Sons, objecting to the application, said Bournemouth and the Isle of Wight were already covered by their own 12-day tours. The addition of Edinburgh to the Bournemouth licence would conflict with their own established traffic.
