,B.R. VEHICLES "SUPPRESSED"

ALL petrol-engined road vehicles operated by British Railways in the area to be covered by the new television transmitter at Wenyoe, South Wales, have been fitted with suppressors to minimize interference. Heed operating within range of the other four transmitters have been similarly equipped, the total cost for the 11,000 vehicles involved being £3,000.

In reply to a question in the House of Commons, last wee. the Assistant Postmaster-General declared that it was intended, early in the next session of the House, to make a regulation providing for the compulsory equipment of new cars with suppressors. At the monient. suppressors were being fitted voluntarily at the rate of 300,000 a month. •
