• Toleman drivers based at Harwich have crippled the distribution of Ford's new Mondeo car by striking over the dismissal of a driver involved in a road accident.
The unofficial two-day strike by 45 drivers was particularly embarrassing for Toleman, with Ford dealers impatient for delivery of the new model.
Toleman later reinstated the driver, who had been dismissed after an incident with his car transporter, which damaged a number of cars, says the Transport and General Workers Union.
Toleman declined to comment.
