Vehicles Ltd., and Eastern Coachworks Ltd., to join the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders have now been considered and both companies have been accepted as associate members.

It may surprise some people that full membership was not given to these two substantial companies but a spokesman for the SMMT has pointed out that new applicants are never accepted as full members, promotion to this grade depending upon performance and production figures of the company.

The fact that the companies are associate members and not full members of SMMT will not affect the prospects of their taking part in this year's Commercial Motor Show, as both grades are able to exhibit there.
