rrWO of the 13 operators authorized by the 1 North Western Traffic Commissioners to operate services this summer from the North West to Butlin's Holiday Camp at Rwllbeli (see COmmERciAL MOTOR, February 11) have failed to agree on fares from common points, as recommended by the Commissioners.
After, hearings spread over seven days between December 13, 1965 and February 3 this year, the Commissioners granted facilities to 13 of 17 applicants. They asked those authorized to meet to reach agreement on a fares structure.
Now, in publishing their detailed decision, the
Commissioners say that Crosville Motor Services Ltd. and Webster Brothers (Wigan) Ltd. have been unable to agree on appropriate fares from picking-up points at St. Helens and Prescot on their express carriage services.
In giving their ruling, the Commissioners state that while they have taken into account both operators' points of view they feel that "in all the circumstances, the fares from these points should be the same for both operators". They believe the fares (from St. Helens, 22s. single, 31s. return; from Prescot, 22s. and 30s.) are "fair and equitable to the two operators concerned".
