Wanted: sign writers

o you run a sign writing company that still paints commercial vehicles in the traditional manner? If so, Commercial Motor would like to hear from you.

We are thinking of publishing a feature, highlighting examples of good signwriting on 1-IGVs and talking to steady-handed signwriters about the intricacies of what may be a dying craft. Please contact features editor Patric Cunnane on 0181 652 3678; or fax 0181 652 8912. Dcottish driver Ken Oliver was saved from possibly serious injury by his need for a cold remedy when he was attacked in his cal; late one night in Italy. Ken, who drives for Andrew Wishart of Kircaldy, was just bedding down for the night at Brescia Services when there was a knock on the cab door. He had just put water on to boil for a Lemsip and, given the lateness of the hour, decided to ignore the caller. However, the door was then wrenched open and two men attempted to pull him ft-urn the cab by grabbin his legs. In a flash of inspiration. Ken grabbed for the pan of boiling water an threw it in the men's faces who, no doubt, said something unprintable in Italia before running off into the night. The reluctant hero says his action wa "instinctive and that he has no qualms about continuing in international wort His boss William Wishart rightly praises Ken's bravery, however, and adds th the company's main concern is the safety of its drivers. Rightly so.
