• Barnsley-based SR Gent, one of the biggest suppliers of clothing to Marks & Spencer, is to close three of its factories in with the loss of 750 distribution and manufacturing workers. Drivers are also likely to be included in the redundancies. The TUC has just published an analysis of job losses, which reveals that 109,000 retail and distribution jobs were lost in the first quarter of this year, compared with 30,000 in the whole of 1990.
Sally's addition Sally Line has acquired a new ferry, Bazias 3, for its Ramsgate-Ostend service.
New look
• Dodd's Transport (Acton) has unveiled a new livery, adding the European flag to the Union Jack. The 100-plus fleet, dominated by Leyland Dafs, will be re-liveried by 1992.
