Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

year profit by using the on-board weigher he bought almost three years ago.

The micro chip-based system, from Maywood Instruments of Basingstoke, Hants was fitted on an ELIO 13x4 tipper; one of four trucks based at Axbridge, Somerset.

The driver was getting poor returns because the load was either too light or too heavy, says Horsham.

If the truck was overweight it could waste 30 minutes queueing to re-weigh.

The on-board weigher provides a readout in the cab which means the driver can get the load right first time.

The system has been trouble-free -I used the FL 10 myself for the first month and quite frankly I couldn't fault it," says Horsham. 'It's needed virtually no maintenance, it is accurate, and it's so simple it's unbelievable."

On many sites on-board weighing is unnecessary — one of Horsham's trucks, for instance, is loading cement on a weighbridge and another is loading at a quarry with a loader which has a weigher on the shovel.

Horsham paid about £2,800 to have his on-board weigher fitted. He admits it's expensive but says; -There isn't another way of doing it."
