/ In CM 6-12 June under the heading "Scrap firm sacks £750,000 fitter" we reported that the North Western Licensing Authority had granted authorisation for additional vehicles to Lancaster-based R & W Howard.
We also stated that the public inquiry was told that the company had no problems until its fitter inherited £750,000. We are now told that the fitter's wife had in fact inherited very much less money and that we incorrectly reported that the fitter had been sacked.
We very much regret any embarrassment caused to the fitter and his wife by our report.
