Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• German tanker manufacturer Feldbinder, best known in the UK for its semi-trailer bulk powder tanks, is set to offer British operators aluminium and stainless steel liquid tankers and open-topped tipper trailers.

This follows its acquisition last week of ACA, the leading East German tanker maker which is based at Wittenberg.

ACA has been building its pressure discharge powder tanks under licence since January. The Feldbinder workforce has doubled to 600, allowing it to move into these two new markets. It previously entered them only as a sideline for major domestic customers. The tipper has hollow plank sides and a conventional rib supported floor. A 24m' aggregate tri-axle semi-trailer weighs 4.8 tonnes on the company's aluminium chassis, or 5.4 tonnes on the steel chassis.

Feldbinder has also modified its non-tipping tri-axle semis to cater for the adoption of 44 tonnes GCW on six axles.

From 28 to 48m' capacity the neck is extended by 150mm to cater for a second rear axle on the tractor.

To optimise weight distribution the bogie is moved backwards, further increasing overall length at up to 40m' — typically by 200mm on the 34m' tank.
