I-LA-BUNG that no backlash can
develop during the life of the component, Renold Chains, Ltd., .Wythenshawe, Manchester, state that their new sprag clutch has applications to torque converters, automatic gearboxes and four-wheel drives. The company are licensed to make such units by the American Formsprag Co.
The clutch. is made in more. than 70 standard sizes ranging from 50 lb.-in. to 136,500 lb.-ft. torque capacity,. and 0.2512-in, bore. It may be used as an overrunning device or a one-way clutch, and is, in most instances, supplied with sleeve and-anti-friction bearings to eliminate the possibility of misalignment. Units may be made specially to meet individual requirements.
