PARCELS CARRIER ANC is studying the feasibility of entering the contract hire market.
A smaller company already in the market has approached ANC in order to promote contract hire via ANC's 64 franchised depots.
ANC managing director Tony Capper told CM that if agreement is reached between the two companies, ANC franchise holders would sell the idea of car and van contract hire to their existing parcels customers. "We often get asked by them if they can hire a van from us," said Capper. He envisages each franchiseholder having around five vans and five cars available for hire periods ranging from one to 12 months.
Capper refuses to name the company that has approached ANC.
