Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

TRANSMOD Engineering of Corby has devised a Fastfit bolt-on spray suppression system which is to be marketed through Monsanto outlets.

With only two years to go before spray suppression becomes mandatory for the majority of the UK's 165,000 semi-trailer pare, all estimated 140,000 have still to comply to impending legislation.

Fitting of existing systems has been criticised for being both costly and inconvenient in time, labour and workshop space.

It comprises a simple box frame with hinged bar for the valance and is secured by locking clamps.

The Transmod Fitfast system adds about 25kg (56 lb) per axle to the vehicle's unladen weight at an extra V.53 to 1:58 per axle on top of the cost of the Monsanto equipment. But fitting time, for a tandem axled semi-trailer, is said to be less than 30 minutes for one man and can be carried out wherever the vehicle may be parked.

Six basic versions, all of which are clamped to Ior Csection floor support members, cover boxvan, curtain skier and skeletal semi-trailer configurations with single or twin tyres.

The system is not suited to tankers.

After live tests by MIRA over pavi: track, followed by further testing on a vibration rig, in what was described as the worst operational conditions, to assimilate 500,000 miles of mixed road running, the system was judged to have pertOrmed well.

The frame can be removed as quickly as it takes to put it on and can be transferred to another vehicle if required.
