THE POST OFFICE has reorganised its transport control team to strengthen the Royal Mail operation involving 27,000 vehicles, 4,001) rail services and nearly 40 chartered air services.
The new regional transport managers are:
Smith East: Allen Burbridge, 39, front Ready Mixed Concrete Eastern Counties, where he was transport manager for I years.
North West: Martin Freston, 38, who was transport consultant at Manchester head post office.
South West: Geoff Griffiths, 48, who has spent 25 years with the Post Office, latterly as regional motor transport officer in the South West. Scottish Postal Board: Mike Honor, 35, who held several executive posts in freight tiansport before becoming Post Office regional transport manager for Scotland.
Midlands: Ken Mabbett, 3. lecturer at -telc.•com Training College before becoming assistant and then regional motor transport officer for the Midlands.
Eastern: Jack Manning, 54, who has 40 years service with the Post Office: since 1977 regional motor transport officer in his present region.
North East: Jim Pulley, 35, who obtained a degree and joined the Post Office as an executive engineer, and was regional motor transport officer in his present region.
Wales and the Marches Postal Board: Mick Sullivan, 57, who joined as a fitter and was regional motor transport officer for Wales and the Marches Telephone Board.
