• Basic charges of 75p for an unladen vehicle of up to 10 metres in length to 0.25 per night for an articulated vehicle with scaled container, are to be made when the Carlisle maximum security lorry park opens on October 29.
The use of grouped parking terms will reduce these costs by up to 25 per cent according to the operator, Vanguard Interstop Parking Ltd, and there will also be contract terms, standage vouchers and special terms for reserved spaces.
Fuelling facilities will open in December and a drivers' hotel restaurant, club and vehicle maintenance and washing facilities will open next year. Initial parking capacity is for 175 vehicles but this is likely to be increased by at least another 100 at a later stage.
