M.I.MEcti.E., M.I.Loco.E., has reached retiring age and has relinquished the office of manager, railcars, but remains a director of A.C.V. Sales, Ltd. In 1909, Mr. Cleaver joined the Walthamstow factory of the London General Omnibus Co., Ltd., and in 1921 he formed the Four Wheel Drive Motor Co. with MR H. NYBERG. This concern was later absorbed by A.E.C., Ltd., and Mr. Cleaver transferred with the business connections to Southall. While with the Four Wheel Drive Co., he patented the single-spring rearsuspension bogie which was used extensively on the A.E.C. W.D. six-wheeled chassis. During the recent war he was engaged on the design of military vehicles. MR. J. R. T. GIBSON JARVIE, a SOH Of the chairman of United Dominions Trust, Ltd., has been elected a director.
• MR. A. R. WRIGETT has been elected a director of Lansing Bagnall, Ltd. He has been associated with the company for 10 years.
MR. G. M. DOBSON has filled the vacancy on the Scottish Transport Users' Consultative Committee caused by the resignation of MR. A. R. SEMPLE.
MR. S. M. LAWRENCE has been appointed assistant sales manager (unwrought and special products) of the British Aluminium Co., Ltd., in place of Ma. R. M. WARRINGTON, MR. 0. M. BRUCE PAYNE: has taken over responsibility for the technical service section of the development department in place of Mr. Lawrence.
VISCOUNT NUFFIELD was in fine fettle on his 74th birthday on October 10, which coincided with the prodtction of the 2,000,000th vehicle by his companies.
